The season of winter has begun. According to the Chinese solar calendar, we have been in the beginning of winter (Li Dong) since November 7.
Our menstrual cycles can beautifully reflect nature and contain our own inner seasons.
- Late luteal phase + menstruation is our winter
- Follicular phase is our spring
- Ovulation is our summer
- Luteal phase is our autumn
When we look at our cycle from the perspective of naturopathy, Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, I find our menstrual cycle fascinating. We can still learn so much from that. Especially because of what we as women were never taught in primary and secondary school. It remains a fantastic phenomenon when my inner season matches the season in my environment. Therefore, pay extra attention to your menstruation (late luteal phase) in the coming period now that we are in winter. Things like enough sleep and rest, enough fats and proteins and less salad and raw vegetables.
Watching and observing our inner seasons unfold helps us know that we don't have to be the same day in and day out. We fluctuate, change and flow, just like nature. What phase are you currently in?
